Sally in the Zen

Confessions of a Befuddled Zen Buddhist

Hello, 2011

I’m a homey-body.

Yes, yes, I am.

Hi, my name is Sally in the Zen, and I’m a homey-body.

So each New Year’s Eve, I partake in a very entertaining and quite fulfilling activity to celebrate the entrance of the new year.

I shuffle to bed at 9:30 PM and pass out asleep.

Yes, I am quite the party animal.

Hello, 2011.

How you doing?

So Zen Master, Zen Mum and I ventured out into the new year air and went to the mall.  Just to see the world, get some fresh air.

While wandering around the mall, there were still the holiday signs boasting HOLIDAY 2010 SALES!  GIFT IDEAS for Christmas 2010!

But 2010 was sooo yesterday.

That’s the brain-teaser, you know.  Just two days ago, it was 2010.

Now it’s 2011!

And I just passed the Godiva Chocolate store, and they’ve already broken out the red Valentine gift boxes!

Wrapped red VALENTINE chocolate boxes!

I ask you, can’t we just bask in the moment of the new year for one more second?

Can’t we just hold the phone?  Push the PAUSE button?

It’s New Year’s, for goodness’ sake!

Ok, I’m off my soapbox now.

Thanks for letting me vent.  I really needed that.

Because I believe we should always start a new year with a good attitude.

That just makes for good karma.

Happy New Year, Everyone!
